D2F2

Drone detection for air-traffic control at airports

The aim of the D2F2 project is to optimize airspace and airfield surveillance to cope with the threat of civil drones. This implies both the use of new sensor technologies to detect, positively classify and verify such vehicles, as well as an optimization of the existing processes with the objective to counter these.

All technical and organizational measures will be evaluated under the premise that they will have to be integrated into the established systems and processes of an international airport. In addition to the use of organizational countermeasures, the technical and legal options and constraints will also be evaluated, in order to enable a future system to actively defend against small drones.
